Title

The John Wood Exhibition

Description

The Building of Bath Museum was opened in 1992 and tells the story of the creation of Georgian Bath. The Museum is housed in the Countess of Huntingdon's Chapel, built in 1765 as a Methodist chapel. It was rescued from decay by the Bath Preservation Trust in 1984 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Trust's foundation.

With a grant from the Heritage Lottery Foundation the Building of Bath Museum Director, Cathryn Spence (right) was able to employ Howard Batho (left) and Amy Frost (middle) to work on a major celebratory exhibition of the life, work and ideas of John Wood the Elder.

The main exhibition space of the museum has been redesigned by Northbank Design Consultants and the fascinating and complex story of Wood told with a combination of objects on loan to us, objects from the museum's permanent collection, graphics, moving images, photographs and architectural models.
