- She moved from England in the 70s to California and spent some years working as a costume designer for stage productions in Los Angeles and San Francisco. In the 80s she was given a contract to work in Zimbabwe to develop Textile Craft Cottage Industries by the government, funded by NGOs. This was her first contact with Textile Crafts and Batik in Ghana, and she applied her design process to the craft process and developed her own batik techniques which she then taught in Zimbabwe and the Caribbean.
