History

The company has its roots in Boise Cascade Corporation, which was established in the year 1957 following the merger of Boise-Payette Lumber Company of Boise and the Cascade Lumber Company of Yakima, Washington. In 1960s, Boise Cascade completed the acquisition of the majority of interests in the Cuban Electric Co. In 2004, the corporation sold its paper, building products, and timberland assets to Madison Dearborn Partners, a private equity investment firm. After this, Boise Cascade acquired OfficeMax and renamed itself to reflect OfficeMax brand. Now, Madison Dearborn Partners had the opportunity to make use of the Boise Cascade name. Madison Dearborn Partners reorganized its newly acquired assets into Boise Cascade Holdings LLC, and made it a limited liability company. Thus, in the present name and corporate structure, the company began its business venture in 2004. The company is headquartered in downtown Boise.
