Title
Thompson Rivers University - BC's Centre for Distance and Online Learning
Description
TRU was created by granting full university status to the former University College of the Cariboo (UCC), originally founded in 1970, as Cariboo College. As part of the creation of TRU, all courses and programs of the former BC Open University (BCOU), founded in 1978, also became part of the new university, establishing the most flexible and comprehensive institution in Canada.
Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning Division (TRU-OL) continues to offer the many flexible programs and distance education options created by the former BCOU. TRU-OL will be managed from the former BCOU location in Burnaby, until operations are relocated to the main TRU Kamloops campus in March 2007. More details are provided here.
Thompson Rivers University is a public institution and a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC).TRU-OL collaborates with BCcampus, other educational institutions, professional bodies, industry, and business, and is a founding member of the Canadian Virtual University.
