- For several years, my job with Air Force Strategic Air Command forced my wife and children to endure the painful hardship of many long separations from me. My oldest son routinely lapsed into depressions and angers at my absence. My daughter forgot who I was and cried as if I were a stranger upon my return. Everyday of my absence was physically and emotionally draining on my wife as she tried to hold the family together with some semblance of normalcy in the absence of a father figure in the home. The one thing we discovered that would help soothe my young children was tape recordings of my voice while I was gone. It is this inspiration I hope to share with other spouses who are forced to separate from their families to follow their careers. BEARegard Comfort Bears is founded on helping children through the difficult times.
