Bean & Cod is a distinctive gourmet food and gift store newly renovated and relocated at the Quaker Bonnet, a 50 year old landmark in the heart of Falmouth at 140 Main Street. The new location is in an historic tutor style building adjacent to the post office with additional parking in the rear.
The store's catchy New England name was derived from the melding of Boston (Beantown) and Cape Cod, reflecting the background of the two owners. Carol Mara is a Falmouth resident, while Janet Bain lives in the Boston area. The twosome's creativity and culinary expertise is evident in the appearance and quality of the products they research, purchase, and sell. Displays of giftware and food items look like works of art and the items available daily for sampling taste sensational.
The expanded store has its own kitchen, providing soups, and salads, as well as freshly baked items. A wide variety of culinary choices are available ranging from cheeses, spreads, pestos, pates, olives, fresh salsas and frozen hors d'oeuvres to clam chowder, lobster and crab cakes, lobster salad, pasta, sauces, chutneys, jams, desserts and ingredients for your specialized cooking needs.
