As the founding members of BearFruit.com are also in ministry, several years ago their Christian music and drama outreach team needed to raise money for equipment and travel expenses. After sifting through the many programs and opportunities, an event was chosen by the team. Everyone was assured that a group with just 10 participants could “easily” generate many thousands of dollars. Well, to keep this story short, the team worked hard and indeed did generate many thousands of dollars in pledges. After paying all of the expenses for this particular event, the ministry “took home” about 32% net profit. We all agreed that asking for money was not the easiest part and we hoped that soon there would be a better way to fundraise.
