- Growing up, I had a huge walnut tree in my front yard. My sister and I used to play in this tree and our dogs got incredibly fat eating all the walnuts that dropped to the ground. The tree finally died a few years ago and was a huge eye-sore but held sentimental value. I turned my first pen from a branch of that tree. I couldn't believe the beauty that came from such an ugly piece of Black Walnut. That was the inspiration for the name of my website.
