Description
Angela was born in South Africa and lived there most of her life. South Africans, like the rest of Africa wear their babies from birth all the way to toddler years. In South Africa it is an every day occurrence to see women wearing their babies. It is also the norm to have helpers around the house to provide house-cleaning services while also caring for your children during the day. Growing up Angela was carried the traditional African way, which is on the back and usually in a terry cloth towel with a safety pin in the front to secure it
Angela's daughter was born in South Africa and when she returned to work after a few weeks, she was left in the care of the family nanny. From day one she was back carried and would be up there most of the day! After Angela married Arnel, they moved to the States, and last year their son was born in June. After several weeks of caring for their son, it occurred to Angela that he was missing out on that special closeness, bonding and security that baby wearing brings, thus began her desire to wear their son, albeit not with a terry cloth towel ;0)
