About BEC
Butte Environmental Council is proud to have dedicated 30 years to protecting the exceptional quality of life in the 1,670 square miles of Butte County. The cities of Chico, Oroville, Gridley, Biggs, and Paradise bring Butte County's population to over 190,000.
The community-based, nonprofit organization is managed by a board of directors, two staff members, interns and volunteers, and currently has 800 members.
The Butte Environmental Council (BEC) is a non-profit corporation. Founded in 1975, BEC is devoted to environmental education and information referral services, and advocacy. BEC is the region's leading environmental organization.
