- The Ragdoll is a relatively new breed of cat. Origins of the ragdoll breed are believed to have started around 1965 with a white Persian Angora cat named "Josephine" and Birman "like" cat called "Daddy Warbucks", seal in colour. Josephine's owner Ann Baker selected the best kittens from these and started a breeding program. Special line breeding techniques followed to form the now recognised ragdoll breed. Every Ragdoll is able to be traced back to Josephine. An extensive list (in the USA ) shows every breeding cat from Josephine right down to today's breeders.
