Our Cattery was born in Los Angeles in 1993. From one fluffy little red point kitten, we grew into a small cattery. We fell in love with the little white fur ball on the picture, which turned out to be a red point, the Grandfather of it all - CH "LITTLEHOUSE YANKEE PEDDLER".
I thought Himalayans was the love of our lives, until we saw pointed Exotic Shorthair. From that moment on we knew that someday we'll have those flat face teddy bears running all over the house. That is how we became breeders of Exotic. Lucky for us, Exotics also come in Long hair.
We think that breeding pointed Exotics is the most rewarding and the most disappointing program of them all. It took years to come up with the small ears, cobby bodies, heavier bones, better head structure and over all larges bodies and better condition. Our first pointed Exotic shorthair, Al Dente, had the most wonderful face and personality, but weigh only about 6 lbs.(about 3 kg.), on long skinny legs. Exotics born in our cattery now rich up to 12lbs. at mature age. We achieved that all our kittens have small ears, smooth round heads, virtually no bumps. And our latest achievement is round, open eyes. However, there are so many things we still have to improve. That makes it all worth while, when that perfect kitten is born. But what a disappointment when that perfect kitten is long hair. How disappointing it is not to be able to show that kitten, even though it might have all the qualities of the Himalayan, but born from Exotic parents. We sure hope that one day soon we will be able to cross that barrier and our long hair Exotics will be allowed to participate in CFA shows.
