Welcome to the City of Belle Fourche! We are happy that you stopped by to see what we are about! The name "Belle Fourche" is French for "Beautiful Fork" because of its site on the "Forks" of Hay Creek, Redwater River, & the Belle Fourche River. It was named this when the area was once owned by France. Belle Fourche is also known as the "Center of the Nation" due to it's proximity to the actual Geographic Center of the Nation. The Population of Belle Fourche is approximately 5,000.
