After finishing school and starting my career life, I found out I have a lot of free time on my hands. Fascinated by my boyfriend’s love for his hobby, I wanted to have a hobby of my own. So I started to search for activities. I remembered one time when my Persian co-worker took me to her native restaurant and I was mesmerized by the belly dancer’s beautiful moves. I decided to try belly dancing. The greatest reward I get is that when I perform, in front of stranger and friends alike, I become lost in my own romantic world where I’m the dancing maiden.
Lygia is the name of a main character in my favorite movie. She is a royal "hostage" slave in a 1951 film called "Quo Vadis?", which is Latin for "Where are you going?"
I have performed at several restaurants and festival in the bay area including Menara Moroccan, Caffe Dijon, Hozkhouneh, Pasand Restaurants and Desert Dance Festival. I also a member of Nijmeh, Raks Jenna (Dance Paradise) and Bana'at el Qamar (Daughters of the Moon) dance troupes.
