- I made my first TV stand in 1987 but I first began making furniture with my brother in 1980 when we decided to make all the furniture for the apartment we shared going to college. My great great grandfather Walter Willy was a cabinet maker in London and it seems that making things is a compulsion with me . When I was about 5 years old I remember being bored and wanting to make something. Something real, not just with tinker toys, so I asked my father for some old pieces of wood and a hammer and nails. I remember I envisioned making a bench and was figuring out how to join the wood pieces. I didn't get far with the project but all through my childhood I wanted to make things. Why did I chose to specialize in TV stands? Because of the need. It's an essential item which is hard to find in stores and what is generally available on the internet looks cheap and junky. It takes a long time to develope a process efficient enough to produce quality pieces at low prices but that's where the fun and the challenge is in this business.
