The Binding Stitch is a company dedicated to the finest presentation of needle art for the needle student as well as the needle art teacher, designer and shop owner. The goal is to create models and prototypes for the market that will inspire the needle artist to appreciate the newest techniques in finishing and presentation for today’s best needle art designs. Additionally, Marcia provides finishing services to students who have attended needle art seminars and individual classes.
The Binding Stitch owner, Marcia Brown Smith, is a graduate of the University of California Davis in Home Economics with a specialty in textiles. Marcia spent the past 24 years providing finishing services for needlework shops throughout the nation and offering seminars to the needlework markets as well as serving hundreds of private clients’ finishing needs. It is her pleasure to be able to share her expertise through classes offered to retail shops, private guilds, and national needlework seminars. From these travels and experiences came the development of a 6 volume video teaching series in finishing technique. Marcia’s methods are also available in class form on video and electronic classroom.
Quality in fabric selection, design and presentation are of utmost importance in the execution of a project. Marcia continually studies textile methods both historic and modern to bring the greatest interest to her design work.
