Meet The "Swans"
The Black Swan is the name of our retail store in the Leavenworth, Washington. The name was a “Gift with Purchase” when we bought the store in 1989, so don’t ask us what it means. We suspect the previous owner just thought it was neat.
What are we all about? We sell funny t-shirts, Leavenworth souvenir t-shirts, casual sportswear, along with a wide variety of goofy gifts and trend merchandise. And we have an awfully good time doing it. Our store has developed quite a reputation as a fun place, both to shop and to work.
We are John and Jean Dawson. Once upon a time, we were both working in Seattle -- John in advertising, and Jean as a buyer for the Bon Marche department store (Now Bon Macy's or Macy's or who really cares?). It was John's love for Leavenworth and Jean's 10 years in retail that headed us east when our close, personal friend Pam Kiehn offered us her store in the heart of the wonderful town which has been remodeled to resemble a Bavarian Village.
