Hi, my name is Blake Hinckley and I am college student interested in learning about Wikis. I am a literature major and a young writer. I am also a member of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Varsity Basketball team. I will be working at AboutUs this summer so stay tuned for the inside scoop.   • Idea for Community Help: a specific help tag, template, or category. Badges in various disciplines of wiki-editing: basic editing, language translation, grammar/composition, design, technical assistance, and others. Way of recognizing the abilities of our community. Aiding collaboration.
  • Better implementation of outside sources into Wiki:
    • Example: Nytimes: support for Newsvine, Facebook, and Digg, plus perma-link. Why not for wiki? Title of article plus short blurb. Would have to go to Nytimes to read article = more traffic for them, increased depth for AboutUs.
    • Support for Blogosphere as well.
  • Bling/Funny: Wiki-Flipbook

  • Badge Design Tool: Select Color, Name, and an icon for your badge. Due to too much World of Warcraft this weekend, I am thinking of it much like the Blizzard guild tabard tool.
  • Improving domain pages: include several different themes that domain pages can choose from when building out their page. This will become especially important if we want to institute the AboutUsWidget, because users will want their AboutUs wikipage to fit into their website seamlessly. It could also encourage more visits/unique since community members will want to return to the site to achieve the right effect, sort of like the obsession to have your myspace account perfectly reflect your personality.
