The stone glass glaze used is lead and cadmium free, for your safety. It not only gives the stoneware a unique look, it also allows food to release with little or no oil. Clean-up is very easy too. In the 17th and 18th centuries, craftsmen applied the decorations using their fingers and stamps made out of potatoes. Although potatoes are not longer used, the designs are still hand-stamped and hand-painted with unique and beautiful results. The white clay indigenous to this area of Poland makes for a durable and eye-catching product.
The process of high-firing at 2000 degrees F, results in a highly durable product. You can use a hand-held mixer right in the bowl, or cut with a knife on a dish or cutting board. It resists chipping and breaking. The stoneware also retains both heat and cold for extended periods of time making this pottery extremely useful in keeping your food at the appropriate temperature. It is refrigerator, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe which allows you to take it from oven to table to refrigerator, then to the microwave for reheating the leftovers. Proper care must be taken when making extreme temperature changes. Allow it to come to room temperature between oven and refrigerator use.
