- I am a Vietnam War Veteran. I am deeply concerned about our soldiers and their families, and how they are being treated. Daily we see and hear about soldiers being wounded and killed in Iraq and the surrounding wars. Most of us who are Veterans can look back in the past year and remember the passing of a fellow soldier. Some fought with us, and some fought in other wars. We may never have met these heroes personally and we may never have known their names, but they were and are heroes nonetheless. The war I fought and my generation are fading. However, the more I see these new heroes and their families struggling, the more it occurs to me that there should be a greater commitment to their welfare.
