- IBB Local 484 is a closed shop Union. Members of Local 484 are employees of Celanese. Celanese management have recently locked us out because we would not recomend a last and final offer to our membership. The Company would not provide any information prior to locking us out. The membership voted this proposed contract down 145-2. Until recently, the company was owned by National Starch & Chemical. For years we struggled to provide decent standard of living in the communities around us, and we won better safety for our members through years of efforts.
