The Komen Boise Race for the Cure® is one of more than 110 Races held across the country each year by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Twenty years ago, Nancy Brinker established the Foundation in memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. The Foundation is now an international organization with a network of local Affiliates like Boise's, working across the country to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Through early funding of basic research, Komen has laid the groundwork for some of today's most promising breast cancer treatments. Komen Affiliate funds support innovative local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs.
