Women getting drunk and flashing at the Mardi Gras is a recent tradition. It all started quite innocently and there are a few theories on how the flashing started at the New Orleans Mardi Gras. One theory believes that when the float parades were banned from the French quarter’s narrow streets in the 70’s. The locals with access to the French balconies decided to make their own form of entertainment and their own Mardi Gras, because they felt left out.
