He attended the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate degree and his medical degree. He attended and completed his internship and fellowship at the national Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He has numerous awards and certifications and is a member of The American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, American Diabetes Association, Endocrine Society, American Society of Internal Medicine and Southern Medical Society.
