In 1970, one year before graduating from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Political Science, Jim began his career as a copyboy for the Oakland Tribune. After college, he switched over to the San Francisco Chronicle, where he contributed hundreds of celebrity biographies and interviews, and additional stories pertaining to the entertainment industry.
While others contended the idea of online media would never catch on, Jim moved to southern California and joined Summit Communications, one of the first computer newswire services, where he served as editor-in-chief.
Jim also served on the staff on Drama-Logue, an entertainment industry trade paper, and has contributed numerous articles to the Los Angeles Times.
