Description
Brentleigh Homestead is a farmstay and fishing retreat on the banks of the Mataura River, famous for it's brown trout fly fishing. Located near Balfour, in the South of the South Island of New Zealand, Brentleigh is a 376-hectare (929-acre) farm 30 minutes from Gore. The farm includes 250 hectares of cereal crops such as wheat, barley, oats, and peas. The remainder grazes for sheep, dairy heifers, cattle and deer.
The homestead is set in a large, relaxing country garden. Mary grows over 1,000 paeony plants which flower in November and December and has developed an export market for the flowers.
The Mataura River, world renowned for its brown trout fly fishing, runs through the property and at least ten other top New Zealand fly fishing rivers are close by. We can arrange local trout fishing guides if you require.
