Title
BRETT BAKER -- PAINTING
Description
Excerpted from the website description:
- The slow surfaces in my paintings are emotional as well as temporal accretions, embodying my attention, apprehension, and responsibility to push each work beyond mere participation in the visual culture. Above all I seek a separate, poetic whole that faces the viewer with presence and clarity – alive in the insistent, evident humanity of its construction. Brett Baker works in New York City and Worcester, NY. His paintings have been exhibited in New York, Boston, and Virginia. His awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship in Painting. From 1999-2001 he was Visiting Lecturer of Drawing at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He earned an M.F.A. from Boston University, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Painting from Brandeis University, and a B.A. in Fine Arts from the College of William and Mary. He is a member of The Painting Center in New York City
