Brett's family has called the Wilmington area home since the 1700's, forging a family tradition nearly three centuries strong. Throughout his lifetime, Brett has been presented with many opportunities elsewhere, but has always remained loyal to this wonderful coastal community. "All my business decisions have been based on my hometown," Brett says. "My family is here. I love the beaches, and my family's heritage is here. I can't imagine anything that could ever take me away from this area."
Wilmington's small town charm tends to easily captivate people that way. Brett's earliest memories are those of splashing in the water at his grandparents' beach house. To this day, he and his wife and two daughters can be found at Brett's parents home every Friday night for a family cook out. With family ties this strong to the community, nothing could ever lure Brett away from Wilmington. After graduating from college (UNC Wilmington, of course), Brett was a fast-rising employee of a major international bank. When presented with the opportunity for a promotion requiring a move to another state, Brett assessed his priorities and kindly replied, "No thanks."
