Brisbane Bowen Clinic: Home Page
Description
The Bowen Technique was developed by Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. Many forms of Bowen Therapy are now taught, but at Brisbane Bowen Clinic we practice a form of Bowen called Fascial Kinetics that remains true to the original technique.
The developer of Fascial Kinetics, Russell Sturgess, attended one of the first courses taught by one of Tom Bowen’s students. His technique remains very true to the original Bowen that he learnt, but he has spent many years researching how and why the technique works so well. This deep understanding enhances the results of the therapy.
Bowen moves may be done through clothing. The technique consists of a series of gentle rolling moves over muscles, tendons and connective tissue, using a light touch. Frequent pauses between moves give the body time to process and benefit from each set. By combining moves, the practitioner can either benefit the body as a whole, or target a specific problem.
