Elect Bruce Bachler For Mayor of Ramsey

Description

Excerpted from the website description:

Elect Bruce Bachler for Mayor of Ramsey - Bruce is 66 years old and has lived in Ramsey for 32 years. He has raised 4 children and is a proud grandfather of eight. Susan, his wife of 20 years, is a devoted registered nurse who volunteers for the Anoka County Humaine Society.

Additional Information

Bruce is a Viet Nam Navy era veteran, and proud of the fact that he was on the ship that recovered the first astronaut at sea. He is semi-retired, having spent 45 years dealing in scrap metal recycling (a hobby that became a occupation), and driving truck for many different companies. He retired from Schwartzman Co in Anoka, and is still recycling, in addition to his spring hobby home made maple syrup from the local trees.

Goals

Bruce’s goal is to reintroduce common sense into city government. “I have worked hard for my money and I spend it responsibly-and I will spend the city’s money the same way.”

He would like to pursue ideas beneficial to the city and the environment; for example, sources of renewable energy for city facilities. Bruce speaks his mind, and will not back down if he believes strongly in a particular solution or course of action. “I don’t owe anybody any favors, so no one has to worry about undue influence on my decisions or judgment regarding city issues.”

A major influence in Bruce’s decision to run for mayor of Ramsey is the situation regarding the City Center. “We need to re-examine the City Center fiasco-do we need a new developer? A new contracter? We definitely need another anchor store, and where is our North Star stop?” One of Bruces priorities is to examine the Ciry Center financiang and determine a route to a prompt solution for making it a viable , productive commerce area.

The city of Ramsey does not own Ramsey Town Center and never has; it is owned by the banks. Ramsey has approximately $8 million in assessments tied up in the Streets, etc... which will soon come back to the City. However, it must be known that the Town Center was not the idea of any city council members, but rather the developers, and the City was not directly involved with the Town Center project. The financial burden is placed upon the banks and it will still take several years to finish.
