Brisbane Southern Districts Junior Football Association Incorporated was formed in 1976. At that time Brisbane Junior Soccer Association controlled all junior soccer in the Brisbane area. Due to the increase in popularity and the growth of the city, it became apparent that two organisations would be needed to administer the sport, thus the formation of Brisbane Southern Districts Junior Soccer and Brisbane North & Districts Junior Soccer.
The area covered by Brisbane South Zone is from the Brisbane River west to include the Ipswich area, south incorporating Beenleigh and Jimboomba, and east to Redlands and the bay areas.
Forty affiliated clubs form the Association with approx 13000 registered players in 2004. Clubs appoint a Management committee and 3 Sub-Committees to act as their agents to operate all aspects of junior soccer from modified rules games for the youngest players, through to premiership competitions for the older ages and then a joint competition with Brisbane North Zone for the oldest age groups.
