BUAV - British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection - Campaigning to end animal experiments
Description
The British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) is the word's leading anti-vivisection campaigning organisation. The BUAV is dedicated to using all peaceful means possible to end all animal experiments, both nationally and internationally. Through public campaigning, hard-hitting undercover investigations, media activities, celebrity support, political lobbying, corporate relationships, legal and scientific expertise and quality educational and information materials, the BUAV spreads its campaign message to as wide and diverse an audience as possible.
The BUAV is also at the centre of international campaigns to end animal experiments. As Chair and a founder member of the European Coalition to End Animal Experiments (ECEAE), the BUAV works with animal rights groups across Europe to co-ordinate campaigning initiatives and ensure that laboratory animals are high on the European political agenda.
As a founding member of the International Council for Animal Protection in OECD Programmes (ICAPO), the BUAV joins with animal protection groups across Europe, the United States and Japan to ensure that laboratory animals have an effective voice within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development as it co-ordinates international testing guidelines.
