- Weill Bugando University College of Health Sciences is located in Mwanza, Tanzania. It was founded in 2003 as a constituent college of St. Augustine's University of Tanzania. While owned by the Catholic Church the college seeks to provide modern medical education through the extensive use of Internet and computer based resources. The college has begun with a Faculty of Medicine but within the next few years will add Faculties of Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dentistry. It is a collaboration among the Catholic Church, the Ministries of Health and Education of Tanzania and the leadership of Weill Medical College of Cornell University (Weill Cornell) at New York Hospital to develop these schools. The goals include: house, train and educate a student body of 800 men and women; house and train 85 faculty and 33 administrative staff; and graduate 175 medical professionals (doctors, dentists, nurses and pharmacists) per year from four and five-year programs.
