Our story

It was 1997, and Harold Chattaway, founder and developer of BugCentral, had a headache. While working on a development project with a client, Harold was awash in lists of bugs, trying to coordinate resources across the globe and ensure that all issues were recorded and resolved. He tried the array of bug tracking tools on the market. He tried e-mail and Excel. And the headache persisted. Rather than throwing his hands up in despair, Harold created a home-grown cure that alleviated all his bug-tracking problems : BugCentral.com.

Harold developed an easily accessible, online application to enter, track, and manage software defects and enhancement requests. The application was a success, and Harold realized that the challenges he faced during his project were challenges that all software developers, testers, and project managers encounter. He decided to share BugCentral.com with the rest of the world. In 1997, BugCentral.com went live with its first customer, Seascape Communications, during the launch of Internet pioneer Jim Clark's Seascape System for the Hyperion yacht.

In July 1998, BugCentral.com moved to a new home. Or more precisely, to a limited access facility with state-of-the-art firewall security and fully monitored network and host intrusion detection systems. NorthEast Data Vault, Inc., a managed services and Web hosting provider, acquired BugCentral.com, guaranteeing customers maximum uptime and peace of mind.
