Description

CUPE Ontario is the political wing of the Canada’s largest union in the country’s most populated province. On behalf of the more than 200,000 members in Ontario, the division campaigns at the provincial level for legislative change and adequate funding. Privatization of public services continues to be a key issue.

CUPE Ontario coordinates campaigns at the provincial level. Activist members are involved through both jurisdictional and issue-oriented committees. The division’s direction and plan of action is debated and approved each year at convention. Elections for executive officers and board are held in even-numbered years.

Affliliated locals support the operations of the division through a per capita levy approved at convention. Effective July 1, 2005, the per capita is $1.25 per full-time member, pro-rated for half- and quarter-time members. Any local in good standing with CUPE, or a CUPE district council, may become an affiliate of CUPE Ontario.
