- Welcome to B.J. Fontenot's Custom duck call website. My name is Bobby Fontenot, I am from Lake Charles, La and have lived here all my life of 35 years, except for 4 years while in the Army. I enjoy fishing, hunting, making duck calls and nice pens, and oh yea, riding my 4-wheeler. I got into making duck calls without knowing a thing about how to make one. I decided to buy a lathe, and tools, and figured it out, with some help from online call making forums. The best way to do it, was to dive in head first and just start tinkering. The first call I made is still dear to me, and is really very plain, but it represents the first step in this journey. It was made from a piece of poplar wood from a local hardware store. Eventually, I got comfortable with turning on the lathe, and wanted to experiment with some more exotic wood.
