California Lutheran College was founded in 1959 and built on land that was donated by the Pederson family, one of many Scandinavian immigrant families residing in the Thousand Oaks area. In 1986, the name was changed to California Lutheran University (CLU).
CLU has four major departments; College of Arts & Sciences, School of Management, Graduate School of Education and the Adult Degree Evening Program.
Both the School of Management and the Graduate School of Education have graduate programs. The online and offline financial planning MBA program is considered to be the countries most comprehensive MBA in financial planning.
