The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre Rancho San Francisco land grant. Some of the major cities in the SCV include the city of Santa Clarita, which is made up of several different areas including the Stevenson Ranch Community, Valencia, Canyon Country, Saugus, Newhall, Castaic, Val Verde, Agua Dulce, and Acton.
Downstream of Santa Clarita, it is called Heritage Valley. The upstream portion is called Soledad Canyon which contains the communities of Vincent, Acton, Ravenna, and Agua Dulce.
