Welcome to the Crossroads of Northeast Iowa. Calmar, in the early railroad years, had 22 tracks of communication. All passengers got off in Calmar, to visit or stay in the area. The Depot was partly restored in 1989, and a bike trail, the Prairie Farmer Bike Trail, was established in that same year on an old railroad bed.
