Camp Wicosuta - A Four Week Summer Camp For Girls in New Hampshire, New England
Description
Camp Greetings and welcome to Camp Wicosuta. Wicosuta is a traditional four-week camp for girls in Hebron, NH. At Camp Wicosuta, girls develop confidence and self-esteem by learning and developing new skills, making new friends, and having the time of their lives.
Camp Wicosuta was founded in 1920 by Anna Rothman, one of the pioneers of camping for girls. Mrs. Rothman knew that by getting young women away from urban areas and into the woods surrounded by caring role models and energetic friends, they would learn many of the lessons needed for them to thrive in the world around them.
The "3 C's": Confidence, Competence & Community... Today, Camp Wicosuta continues this tradition of teaching young girls skills that build self-confidence and self-esteem. At Wico, our goal is for every child to walk away feeling confident in herself and competent in her ability in any of a number of areas. We teach these lessons in a physically and emotionally safe community in which our campers are challenged to move past their self-set limits. Campers learn these skills in the arts and crafts room, on the athletic fields, on the hiking trails of the White Mountains, in Newfound Lake, and in their bunks. And, while we believe that competition provides valuable lessons in the process of building skills, this aspect is downplayed so that girls remain focused on building foundational skills in a variety of activities. We feel our staff is the key to the campers' summer experiences. Therefore, we hand-pick the finest role models available and train them to work under one guiding principle: creating a community where each camper can learn, grow, and achieve.
