About Us
Camuka was established in 1991. Jane has been involved with Goldens since 1982, initially in her home country of New Zealand where she owned & showed her first Golden, and now here in Australia. Her first golden Emma can be seen here. Jane works as a vet nurse, with Ballarat Family Pet Care Clinic.
A small & relatively "young" kennel we have been breeding and showing Goldens here in Australia since 1991, when we purchased our first golden CH Strathraer Hyland Brae from Strathraer kennels, Stroy quickly gained his title with some notable wins. After several years of breeding and a few hiccups along the way, we decided to change direction and in 1998 brought in Oaklodge Juliana from Oaklodge Kennels in NSW. Although not a show girl Ana has given us some lovely sound progeny, including our young star CH Camuka Monarch ofthe Glen. Ana is behind all our current stock. A recent addition has also been CH Kaparla Hows That. "Bridie" comes from the renowned Kaparla Kennels in Tasmania and brings with her some of the UK's top bloodlines. Her sire is the top Australian Golden, Grand Ch Chaleur Acclaim to Fame. Bridies litter brother Flynn recently won BIS at the 2002 National. We have recently introduced some more UK/Swedish bloodlines with the use of Ch. Strathraer Nordic Star.
As breeders and exhibitors of Golden Retrievers our aim is to produce sound quality puppies, that will make perfect family companions. Camuka has produced breed specialty class winners and obedience titled dog's. Our young dog Archie recently won BIS at the GRCV Open show, BOB at the 2002 Melbourne Royal and Reserve dog & Intermediate in Show at the GRCV 2002 Champ show. We do not show as much as some, as we have other family commitments (2 young sons), but have been very happy with our successes.
