Mission Statement
The Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) is a not-for-profit organization initiated by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. CanLII's goal is to make primary sources of Canadian law accessible for free on the Internet. CanLII seeks to gather legislative and judicial texts, as well as legal commentaries, from federal, provincial and territorial jurisdictions on a single Web site.
Partners
CanLII is funded by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, and the LexUM team are the developers of the Web site.
The Federation of Law Societies of Canada (the Federation) is an umbrella organization of the fourteen Canadian Law Societies. The Federation addresses a number of issues of national and international concern to its members, including establishing a public and free virtual law library in Canada.
