J. Scott Nystrom, M.D., F.A.C.P. is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and both subspecialty boards in Oncology and Hematology. He has had over 30 year’s clinical experience in hematology and Oncology. He has held academic positions at University of Southern California, University of Connecticut Medical Center, Wayne State University and School Medicine and Tuft’s New England Medical center. He has practiced actively in both academic and private practice settings during his career. He has written numerous articles throughout his career and has been the recipient of many awards including being twice named as "Best Doctor" in Hematology and Oncology by Detroit Monthly magazine.
He has served in enumerable professional capacities over the years ranging from blood banking committees, to principle investigator with the Western Cancer Study Group. He was founding president of the Michigan Hematology and Oncology Society, Chief of the section of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine at St. John Hospital and Medical Center [Detroit, MI] and in 2001 joined the faculty at New England Medical Center, Senior Consultant, and Boston, MA. He now serves as the Medical Director for CancerExperts website.
Dr. Nystrom’s professional memberships have included the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, Wayne County Medical Society, Detroit Academy of Medicine, American Medical Association, Michigan State Medical Society, American Board of Internal Medicine, American Society of Internal Medicine, International Society of Hematology and Oncology, the International Society for the Study of Comparative Oncology, Massachusetts Society of Clinical Oncologists, Michigan Society of Hematology and Oncology and the Association of Community Cancer centers.
