On May 8th, 2003, Caraquet received, from Canadian Heritage, the distinction of Cultural Capital of Canada proving its continual commitment to the development of arts and culture.
The Town of Caraquet is certainly a role model to follow in arts and culture. In 1993, a cultural policy was created and in 1994, a cultural commission, providing the cultural organisms and events with structure and tools to work with.
