CarolHarrisCo.com - Boutique of heirloom fabrics and sewing materials
Title
Carol Harris Company heirloom fabrics, laces, buttons, sewing notions, smocking, knitting supplies and patterns for children's clothing
Description
Carol Harris Company officially opened in March 1995 in a rented building in downtown Dyersburg, Tennessee. The business originally carried adult fashion fabric as well as smocking and heirloom supplies for babies and children. By May of 1988, the business had outgrown the old location so Carol relocated to a building she owned and had recently renovated. Within the following year, the adult fashion fabric aspect of the business was phased out as the smocking and heirloom department grew rapidly.
The business website began as an advertisement but enjoyed so much traffic the secure shopping feature was added in 2001. We currently ship all over the world.
The business hosts about 3 schools per year featuring internationally known instructors and has had students come from as far away as Australia. The March/April 1998 issue of Creative Needle magazine offered the first photoshoot opportunity featuring 10 garments. The article entitled "Shop Talk" in that same issue featured the store. The 2nd photoshoot was in the Sept/Oct 2000 issue and the following year, Carol became a contributing editor for the magazine by writing an article entitled "Heirloom Legacy". Each installment features an original garment with detailed instructions for how to make it. An "Heirloom Legacy" garment has graced the cover of Creative Needle 8 times.
