Description
Flowers are an excuse for me to explore color, light, paint, and composition -- a way for me to dance with energy. To me, the abstract principles of visual rhythm and harmony supersede subject matter. At this deeper level of awareness, emotional and spiritual energies can come through. It's all equal in paint.
My method involves painting over the whole picture surface at the same time, letting the happy accidents of brushwork stand while keeping the painting unified. I want my work to acknowledge a deeper reality and also the reality of the colored paint itself. I want it to express freedom, joy, spirit -- to be about what's beyond the surface while creating light-filled, colorful, playful surfaces.
