- Welcome to The Carolina Weaver! I'm Kathy Weaver and I've been weaving baskets on and off for over 40 years! It's a craft that my Mother taught me when I was young. Although my baskets vary in design from hers, the basics are the same. After several years of not weaving, I found that I needed a quiet outlet after a day of teaching "wee folk" in preschool programs and I went back to weaving. While the same pattern may be used for several baskets I find that each one takes on it's own personality...... thus, no two are ever quite the same! My hope is that others will enjoy the baskets as much as I do and honor the ancient traditions that bring them to us.
