- Bloss Memorial Healthcare District, d/b/a Castle Family Health Centers, is a not for profit public entity health provider. As such, it operates with an elected Board of Directors. It was started in 1954 when Mr. George Bloss presented a building on Third Street and Grove Avenue in Atwater for use as an acute care hospital. After years of service to the community, the outdated hospital was closed in April of 1998. A Rural Health Clinic remained as well as one in Winton and one at Castle.
