Pink Floyd is the archetypical English Rock Band who emerged from the mid 1960s, the days of Flower Power and the Psychedelic movement. With founder member Syd Barrett at the helm, he thrust the Floyd into main stream Full-on Psychedelic rock jams. Considered to be one of the most influential acts to emerge from that period, they went from strength to strength to produce some of the most intelligent and thought provoking masterpieces of modern rock music. Their unique sound, combined with philosophical lyrics, that quissential English vocal and deep routed jazz and blues themed structures in their songs has made Pink Floyd an icon for many a generation of rock fans.
