The Gorge is a special place known for stunning vistas, pristine landscape, world famous windsurfing, and other recreational delights. It's also a premier grape growing region. So when the opportunity arose to purchase Cathedral Ridge Winery (formerly Flerchinger Vineyards), we jumped at the chance. Not only because of the winery's terrific location high on a ridge above the Gorge with Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams as a backdrop, but also because the Flerchinger's were known for operating a premium, family-run winery. We wanted to build on that tradition, bringing with us 30 years of wine expertise gleaned from Sonoma and Napa. We have built a great team, and we're fortunate to be part of this wonderful place.
Due to the ideal micro-climates of this area, our lovingly tended grapes are magnificent. The credit goes to our fabulous grape growers such as Lonnie Wright, John Bangsend, Clark Ziegler, and others. But the magic doesn't stop there. Our winemaker is Michael Sebastiani who's no stranger to the wine business. He has an innate talent for creating magic in every bottle. And we're lucky to have him on our team.
We're also pleased that grower Lonnie Wright, who also makes wines himself, is part of our team. Right now, we're emphasizing wines from the Columbia Gorge and Columbia Valley areas, but Michael is constantly seeking to improve our wine offerings to suit the tastes of our customers.
